Possible food and drug interactions when taking this medication
When you are taking cyclobenzaprine, it is especially important that your health care professional know if you are taking any of the following:
- Monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors (furazol
idone [e.g., Furoxone], phenelzine [e.g., Nardil], procarbazine [e.g., Matulane], selegiline (e.g., Eldepryl), tranylcypromine [e.g., Parnate])¡XTaking cyclobenzaprine while you are taking or within
weeks of taking MAO inhibitors may increase the chance of side effects

Side Effects
The following side effects may mean that you are having a serious allergic reaction to the medicine. Get emergency help right away if any of them occur:
- Changes in the skin color of the face; f
ast or irregular breathing; large swellings that look like hives on the face, eyelids, mouth, lips, and/or tongue; puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or the area around the eyes ; shortness of br
eath, troubled breathing, tightness in chest, and/or wheezing; skin rash, hives, or itching

Other medical problems
Allergies¡XTell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to cyclobenzaprine. Also tell your health care professional if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods
preservatives, or dyes.

Overdose
Convulsions (seizures); drowsiness (severe) ; dry, hot, flushed skin; fast or irregular heartbeat; hallucinations (seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there); increase or decrease in
body temperature; troubled breathing; unexplained muscle stiffness; unusual nervousness or restlessness (severe); vomiting (occurring together with other symptoms of overdose)

Why is this drug prescribed?
Cyclobenzaprine (sye-kloe-BEN-za-preen) is used to help relax certain muscles in your body. It helps relieve the pain, stiffness, and discomfort caused by strains, sprains, or injuries to your muscles
. However, this medicine does not take the place of rest, exercise or physical therapy, or other treatment that your doctor may recommend for your medical problem. Cyclobenzaprine acts on the central
nervous system (CNS) to produce its muscle relaxant effects. Its actions on the CNS may also cause some of this medicine's side effects.

Special warnings about this medication
This medicine may cause some people to have blurred vision or to become drowsy, dizzy, or less alert than they are normally. Make sure you know how you react to this medicine before you drive, use mac
hines, or do anything else that could be dangerous if you are dizzy or are not alert and able to see well.
