Older adults¡XAlthough there is no specific information comparing use of nasal Flonase in the elderly with use in other age groups, they are not expected to cause different side effects or problems in
older people than they do in younger adults.

Special warnings about this medication
In rare cases, inhaled steroids such as Flovent have caused cataracts or increased pressure in the eye (glaucoma). Alert your doctor if you suffer from either problem. If you have recently h
ad a nasal injury or ulcer, or had surgery on your nose, you should wait until you are fully healed before using Flonase.

What is this Drug
Nasal Flonase are cortisone-like medicines. They belong to the family of medicines called steroids. These medicines are sprayed or inhaled into the nose to help relieve the stuffy nose, irritation, a
nd discomfort of hay fever, other allergies, and other nasal problems. These medicines are also used to prevent nasal polyps from growing back after they have been removed by surgery.

Drug Interactions
The risk of developing Cushing's syndrome and other side effects increases when you take other steroid medications while using flonase. Prednisone and dexamethasone are examples of oral steroid medica
tions. Certain other asthma inhalers, skin creams, eyedrops, and eardrops also may contain steroids. Also be sure to check with your doctor before combining flonase with ketoconazole (Nizora
l) or HIV drugs known as protease inhibitors, including Agenerase, Crixivan, Fortovase, Norvir, and Viracept.

Special warnings about this medication
Avoid items or activities that you know are allergens for you if they make your symptoms worse. Clean areas where dust or pet fur may aggravate your condition. ? Avoid exposing yourself to known sourc
es of infection. Stay away from people with chicken pox, measles, or any other type of infection. Your immune system may not be strong enough to fight off an infection while you are using Flonase (flu
ticasone nasal ).

Side Effects
Serious side effects from Flonase (fluticasone nasal ) are not likely to occur. Stop using Flonase (fluticasone nasal ) and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (dif
ficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives). ? Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to use Flonase (fluticasone nasal
) and talk to your doctor if you experience stinging or burning of the nose; sneezing after application; yeast infection in the nose or throat (white patches); bleeding nose; perforated septum (insid
e center of nose); increased pressure in the eyes, glaucoma, or tearing of the eyes; headache or lightheadedness; nausea; cough; asthma symptoms; nasal stuffiness or a runny nose
