Cautions
Before taking Paxil,
remember that alcohol can add to the drowsiness caused by this drug.
tell your doctor if you use tobacco products. Cigarette smoking may decrease the effectiveness o
f this drug.
plan to avoid unnecessary or prolonged exposure to sunlight and to wear protective clothing, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Paxil may make your skin sensitive to sunlight.

Proper Use of This Medicine
Paxil has not been shown to add to the effects of alcohol. However, use of alcohol is not recommended in patients who are taking Paxil.
Paxil may cause some people to become drowsy or have bl
urred vision. Make sure you know how you react to this medicine before you drive, use machines, or do anything else that could be dangerous if you are not alert or able to see clearly.

Adverse Effects
Adverse Events Leading to Discontinuation of Treatment: - 16% (656/4126) of patients who received paroxetine in worldwide clinical trials discontinued treatment due to an adverse experience. The most
common events (reported by at least 1% of subjects) associated with discontinuation included: asthenia, headache, nausea, somnolence, insomnia and abnormal ejaculation. All other events associated wit
h discontinuation occurred at rates of 1% or less.

What side effects may occur?
Side effects from Paxil are common, and include:
- upset stomach
- drowsiness
- weakness or tiredness
- excitement or anxiety
- insomnia
- nightmares
- dry mout
h
- changes in appetite or weight
Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
- constipation
- difficulty urinating
- frequent urination
- blurred vision
- changes in sex drive or ability
- excessive sweating

Overdose
No specific antidote is known. Treatment should consist of those general measures employed in the management of overdose with any antidepressant.
The stomach should be emptied either by the
induction of emesis, lavage or both. Following evacuation, 20 to 30 g of activated charcoal may be administered every 4 to 6 hours during the first 24 hours after ingestion. Supportive care with frequ
ent monitoring of vital signs and careful observation is indicated.

Pregnancy¡XPaxil has not been well studied in pregnant women. Paxil should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefit outweighs the potential risk to the baby. Before taking this medicine,
make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or if you may become pregnant.
