What special precautions should I follow?
In deciding to use a medicine, the risks of taking the medicine must be weighed against the good it will do. This is a decision you and your doctor will make. For the Soma, the following should be con
sidered:
Allergies¡XTell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to any of the Soma or to carbromal, mebutamate, meprobamate (e.g., Equanil), or tybamate. Also tell
our health care professional if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives, or dyes.

Possible Side Effect
Although side effects from Soma are not common, they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
- drowsiness
- dizziness
- clumsiness

- fast heart rate
- upset stomach
- vomiting
- skin rash
If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:

reathing
- fever
- weakness
- burning in the eyes

How should this medicine be used?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up f
or a missed one.

What Is It
Soma are used to relax certain muscles in your body and relieve the stiffness, pain, and discomfort caused by strains, sprains, or other injury to your muscles. However, these medicines do not take th
e place of rest, exercise or physical therapy, or other treatment that your doctor may recommend for your medical problem. Methocarbamol also has been used to relieve some of the muscle problems cause
d by tetanus.
Soma act in the central nervous system (CNS) to produce their muscle relaxant effects. Their actions in the CNS may also produce some of their side effects.

Overdose
If you suspect an overdose, seek medical help immediately.
Symptoms of Soma overdose may include:
- Breathing difficulty, coma, shock
A severe overdose of Soma can be fatal!

Drug Interactions
Soma may intensify the effects of alcohol. Be careful drinking alcoholic beverages while you are taking this medication.
If Soma is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either coul
d be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Soma with the following:
- Antidepressant drugs such as Elavil, Tofranil, and Nar
dil
- Major tranquilizers such as Haldol, Stelazine, and Thorazine
- Sedatives such as Nembutal and Halcion
- Tranquilizers such as Librium, Valium, and Xanax
