Before Taking This Medicine
Pregnancy¡XStudies with Vaniqa have not been done in pregnant women. In animal studies, when taken by mouth, Vaniqa has been shown to cause birth defects or other problems. If you are pregnant or plan
to become pregnant, discuss with your doctor whether you should use this medicine during pregnancy.

Side Effects
In clinical trials, some women experienced minor and temporary skin irritations such as redness, stinging, burning, tingling or rash. If these persist, consult your doctor. Only 2% of subjects discont
inued studies due to side effects related to the use of VANIQA.

Special warnings about this medication
If skin irritation occurs, reduce the frequency of treatments. If irritation continues, stop using the medicine and contact your doctor.
If no improvement is seen after six months of treatme
nt, stop using the medicine and contact your doctor.
If condition gets worse while you use the medicine, stop the medicine and contact your doctor.

How should you take this medication?
Apply a thin layer of VANIQA to affected areas of the face and adjacent involved areas under the chin and rub in thoroughly. Do not wash treated area for at least 4 hours. Use twice daily at least 8 h
ours apart or as directed by a physician. The patient should continue to use hair removal techniques as needed in conjunction with VANIQA. (VANIQA should be applied at least 5 minutes after hair remov
al.) Cosmetics or sunscreens may be applied over treated areas after cream has dried.

Why is this medication prescribed?
VANIQA (pronounced "VAN-i-ka") is a prescription medication applied to the skin for the reduction of unwanted facial hair in women. The active ingredient in VANIQA is eflornithine hydrochloride. VANIQ
A also contains ceteareth-20, cetearyl alcohol, dimethicone, glyceryl stearate, methylparaben, mineral oil, PEG-100 stearate, phenoxyethanol, propylparaben, stearyl alcohol and water.

Possible food and drug interactions
Vaniqa has no known drug interactions. Make sure your doctor is aware of all medications and facial products you are using before you begin Vaniqa treatments.
