What Is It
Nasacort are metered-dose inhalers containing the anti-inflammatory steroid medication, triamcinolone acetonide; Nasacort AQ is a metered-dose pump spray. Nasacort is used as long-term therapy to cont
rol bronchial asthma attacks. Nasacort and Nasacort AQ are prescribed to relieve the symptoms of hay fever and other nasal allergies. Nasacort is also used in the treatment of nasal polyps (projecting
masses of tissue in the nose).

What side effects can this medication cause?
Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur: - Bad smell; blindness; bloody mucus or unexplained nosebleeds; blurred or gradual loss of vision; b
urning or stinging after use of spray or irritation inside nose (continuing); crusting, white patches, or sores inside nose; discharge or redness in eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid; eye
pain; headache; hives ; light-headedness or dizziness; loss of sense of taste or smell; muscle pain; nausea or vomiting; ringing in the ears ; shortness of breath; skin rash; sore throat, co
ugh, or hoarseness; stomach pains; stuffy, dry, or runny nose or watery eyes (continuing); swelling of eyelids, face, or lips;

How should you take this medication?
Before you use triamcinolone the first time, read the written instructions that come with it. Ask your doctor, pharmacist, or respiratory therapist to demonstrate the proper technique. Practice using
the inhaler while in his or her presence Before using triamcinolone, gently blow your nose to clear your nasal passages. Avoid blowing your nose for 15 minutes after inhaling the prescribed d
ose.

What special precautions should I follow?
The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of corticosteroids. Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially: - Injury to the nose (recent) or <
br> - Nose surgery (recent) or - Sores in the nose¡XNasal corticosteroids may prevent proper healing of these conditions - Liver disease - Tuberculosis (active or history of) - Un

Precautions while Using this Medicine
Check with your doctor: - if signs of a nose, sinus, or throat infection occur. - if your symptoms do not improve within 7 days (for dexamethasone) or within 3 weeks (for beclomethasone
, budesonide, flunisolide, Nasacort, mometasone, or triamcinolone). - if your condition gets worse.

Possible food and drug interactions when taking this medication
Tell your health care professional if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription (over-the-counter [OTC]) medicines, such as: - Ephedrine or - Phenobarbital or - Rifampin (e
.g., Rifadin)¡XEphedrine, phenobarbital, and rifampin may decrease the blood levels of nasal corticosteroids, such as dexamethasone, warranting an increase in corticosteroid dose
