If you will be taking this medicine for a long time, your doctor should check your progress at regular visits. This medicine will add to the effects of alcohol and other CNS depressants (medi
cines that slow down the nervous system, possibly causing drowsiness). Some examples of CNS depressants are antihistamines or medicine for hay fever, other allergies, or colds; sedatives, tranquilizer
s, or sleeping medicine; prescription pain medicine or narcotics; barbiturates; medicine for seizures; other muscle relaxants; or anesthetics, including some dental anesthetics. Do not drink alcoholic
beverages, and check with your doctor before taking any of the medicines listed above, while you are using this medicine.

Before Taking This Medicine
The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of a skeletal muscle relaxant. Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially: - Allergies, history of
, or - Blood disease caused by an allergy or reaction to any other medicine, history of, or - Drug abuse or dependence, or history of, or - Kidney disease or - Liver disease or - Porphyria¡XDepending on which of the Soma you take, the chance of side effects may be increased; your doctor can choose a muscle relaxant that is less likely to cause problems - Epilepsy¡XCon

What is this Drug
Soma are used to relax certain muscles in your body and relieve the stiffness, pain, and discomfort caused by strains, sprains, or other injury to your muscles. However, these medicines do not take th
e place of rest, exercise or physical therapy, or other treatment that your doctor may recommend for your medical problem. Methocarbamol also has been used to relieve some of the muscle problems cause
d by tetanus. Soma act in the central nervous system (CNS) to produce their muscle relaxant effects. Their actions in the CNS may also produce some of their side effects.

Before Taking This Medicine
The effects of Soma during pregnancy have not been adequately studied. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. This drug appears in breast milk and could affect
a nursing infant. If this medication is essential to your health, your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding until your treatment is finished.
